COTM – THE REAL HOT SKATE MOMS OF VANCOUVER B.C.
We are an inclusive skate crew of ‘later skaters’ who are helping to change the social ideologies around age and ability in skate culture by showing up and having fun.
SOTM: Nicole Noller Has Got Skillzzzzzzzzzzz
I’ve had an amazing journey skating and I wouldn’t change finding it for anything. It’s taken me all over the country, first with Girls Riders Organization then the many contests World Cup Skateboarding and Exposure do, and traveling just to skate with friends. I love meeting new skater girls and encouraging them. I hope to stay a positive influence on the young ones, and an inspiration for all.
COTM – Crete Creepers Creeping Coast-to-Coast
Popular Ladies Night skate gatherings have established the Crete Creeper’s presence in Reno and South Lake Tahoe since 2018. And when a founding member moved 2,000 miles away to Jamestown, NY last year the momentum didn’t die out- it just got… creepier.
POSEIDEN’S LADIES DAY AT THE BERRICS
“The adaptive competition was my favorite part, watching those competitors was amazing. I can’t believe the slams they were taking and how far they were pushing it! They were totally ripping! I’m a huge fan now, I followed them all on Instagram.” -Amy Caron, Announcer
NATALIE KRISHNA DAS: QUEEN OF THE SKATEGALAXY
Looking to get inspired to kick off 2022? Leave that up to Natalie Krishna Das. With her third pro model coming out this month (#DASTRONAUTiii) she is blasting off with this @spookygirlart Barbarella-inspired board sponsored by Riot Style.
COTM – BRING YOUR FRIENDS TO SK8 N’ MEET SANTANA
The name isn’t referring to the jolly harbinger of the late-December Capitalist holiday OR a guitar legend that also responds to “Carlos.” It refers to the Orange County community, Santa Ana. And, founded in 2019, this crew is inclusive and non-denominational.
COTM – LONELYBONES ENGINEERING CONNECTION IN BOSTON
I’m pretty certain if my family hadn’t moved back to California from Boston when I was in 8th Grade I eventually would have picked up a board and found my way to LonelyBones. String together the words ‘gentle’ and ‘nurturing’ with skating, throw in two kick-ass engineer-leaders, and you’ve got my attention.
ROSE ARCHIE- ON TURNING FORTY AND STAYING FLIPPIN’ FABULOUS
“I always want everyone to acknowledge the past, present and future generations of Indigenous people here on “Turtle Island”. Learning about the land you’re on by going to https://native-land.ca will honour Nations that have been taking care of the land.”
MC SKATE MASTER ASHLEY: PLAY ALL DAY!
“My deep love and affinity for skateboarding has shown me my own resilience and strength. It has also proved to be an incredible tool for my own therapy, self-expression, and pure joy!”
East Coast Mag Drop at Switch and Signal!
Switch & Signal Skatepark in Pittsburgh (home to Assistant Editor Maya Haptas) hosted a special Women & Trans session to celebrate the release of BIGFOOT’s first issue. Since we still wear masks indoors at the park we had some jalapeños for skaters to take home and keep it spicy.
