The name isn’t referring to the jolly harbinger of the late-December Capitalist holiday OR a guitar legend that also responds to “Carlos.” It refers to the Orange County community, Santa Ana. And, founded in 2019, this crew is inclusive and non-denominational.
Old Fashioned Standards is exactly what it sounds like: a brand forged by genuine hard work and grit. Ultra high quality clothing created with the homies & sustainability in mind, an in-demand lane of the clothing industry. Each stitch, pattern, and detail that goes into a piece of clothing produced by OFS is handmade by owner and founder, Kassy Bailey. A Vancouver OG skater, Kassy is dedicated to sourcing unique materials and customizing the proper sizing of her products, which are designed to last generations like pieces she inherited from her grandfather.
A group chat turned mob of beginner/intermediate skaters cruising LA, documenting, and celebrating every minuscule achievement like we won the lottery. This gave me the confidence to attend a Display Only sesh where I met Ashley, the missing piece to the Board 2 Tears puzzle. That was her first meetup. Kismet.
With the help of Full City Coffee Rooster, a super duper sweet coffee shop in NE Portland and lots of other super fab friends, we threw a magazine drop party Sunday and it was fire!! An incredibly special opportunity to see so many familiar faces and officially introduce BIGFOOT to our hometown. From bombing hills on her board or climbing up the side of them, Cece is always outdoors doing something. Her and her wife love to explore and be adventurous. Nature is their oyster. Rain or shine… 10 degrees or 80, she’s out there getting IT.
Amber Gedman’s here trying to tell me that her signature trick is a nose grind front shuv, but after watching her manual an entire block of N. 3rd Street outside KCDC Skateshop in Brooklyn back in 2019 I’m calling her out on that. Either way, Amber’s a versatile skater who’s been ripping under the radar for years. And that fact cannot be disputed.
PATTI is in the pursuit of passion in many forms – music, skateboarding, surfing, art and a laundry list of unconfined future possibilities.
Because going on a beer run nowadays means having to gear up like you want to kill E.T., social media is more essential to our need for connection than ever before.
A killer crew of girls from Portland and Washington gathered together in late June (safely distanced with face masks on hand) and hopped on the ferry in Anacortes to float northwest through the beautiful San Juan Islands. Arrival at the Scott Stamnes skatepark kicked off a full weekend of gnar; grinds, slashes and stylin’ airs.
Every year skaters from near and far reunite at Burnside Skatepark’s notorious birthday/Halloween bash for a heated, costumed snake session and eclectic night of debauchery. This year marks the park’s “DIRTY 30” which is hard to believe- it seemed like yesterday the park was still a lot-lurking teen.
