Poppy & Una’s “Dear Diary”

After being unhappily separated on other sides of the world for 9 months of COVID, Poppy and Una reunited just in time for a beautiful Australian summer. And they’ve really been making the most of it, as you can see in their new video series Dear Diary on their brand new youtube channel.

After watching Credits, I had to stop what I was doing to go slappy some curbs. The film is compiled with epic skate spots, creative tricks, hard slams, and getting busted by cops; this film gives an energetic and a “can-do” attitude. The style is visually enhanced with a nostalgic grittiness by recording with vintage camera equipment. As a filmmaker myself, I had to know more! Overall, the fun-loving, positive, energetic theme of the film definitely unleashed my inner hellraiser to go out and fucking get some.

Skating Around Climate Change

When the homie Poppy Starr jumped into the ocean recently in her hometown of Newcastle, 100 miles north of Sydney in the burning State of New South Wales, she emerged covered in ash. “Felt like an apocalypse, end of the world type stuff.” Like the majority of cities in Australia, Newcastle sits on the coastline & benefits from offshore winds decreasing the accumulation of smoke.
