SLAM CITY JAM LADIES STREET CONTEST, 2003

Migz filmed this almost 20 years ago and Priest recently dug it out of the dusty DVAULT, and edited it into this lively slice of herstory, starring Amy Caron, Vanessa Torres, Alex White, Monica Shaw, Jesse Van Roechoudt, Lauren Mollica, Lauren Perkins, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins and Farrah O’Brien. Musical stylings by Shoebox Jones.

Celina Meehan – Sister of SLAY

I have always felt a great kinship with Celina Meehan because once, before we knew each other, I leant her my ID to get into a bar in Seattle. Neither of us remembered until we met a second time a few years later and put it together. There is an old legend that says if someone successfully uses your ID to get into a bar, it means you are forever linked as “Sisters of Libation”.

MAY GODDESS HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOULS; It’s the WBATB Final!

The original four headed for the semi-finals were Christiana Means, Sammaria Brevard, Lacey Baker and Candy Jacobs. Sadly Portland’s hometown hero, Christiana, had to forfeit her spot because of an Olympic team commitment in the Philippines. So previous challengers Monica Torres and Chelsea Castro staged a “redemption round,” with Torres ultimately earning her spot in the final four.

Hilary Pearce – Australia’s Skateboarding Pioneer Woman

“Things look pretty good right now, there’s more money and support which makes for great opportunities and progression. Seeing some of the girls traveling the world with their best friends, having the time of their lives doing their own thing, it makes my heart swell.”
