Seattle’s Hometown She-ros Show up, the Marginal Way

The evolution of a scene starts with a place. Marginal Way is Seattle’s renowned DIY skatepark, tucked in the cavernous industrial maze of Seattle’s SODO district. Like it’s predecessor, Burnside, the park started out with a transition and a pump bump, which I first witnessed about 20 years ago with Jim Ratzman on one hell-ride […]

POSEIDEN’S LADIES DAY AT THE BERRICS

“The adaptive competition was my favorite part, watching those competitors was amazing. I can’t believe the slams they were taking and how far they were pushing it! They were totally ripping! I’m a huge fan now, I followed them all on Instagram.” -Amy Caron, Announcer

SPRING FLING – FDR’s First-Ever Women’s Contest!

It got wild, it got weird- it was fucking wonderful. This wasn’t just a contest, it was a renegade mission by local FDR women to take over the park for a day of music, art and skateboarding. The “Gnar Bar” was constructed on site, and the whole back flow bowl was painted with wild-ass ponies and flaming rainbows. Nine bands performed and there were over 30 artists and vendors. Women and queer/non-binary skaters from all over the country came out and shredded.

HAVING A WHALE OF A (responsible) TIME ON ORCAS!

A killer crew of girls from Portland and Washington gathered together in late June (safely distanced with face masks on hand) and hopped on the ferry in Anacortes to float northwest through the beautiful San Juan Islands. Arrival at the Scott Stamnes skatepark kicked off a full weekend of gnar; grinds, slashes and stylin’ airs.
