CRESCENT SKATE KREWE CHALLENGING NORMS IN NOLA

“We skate every Sunday at Parisite DIY. Many of the Crescent Krewe are volunteering for communities outside of New Orleans that were hit very hard. We’ll all get back to meeting up at the skate park soon, but for now, our communities need help. Parisite DIY stepped up as a supply drop-off location.”

OAKLAND’S CHUB ROLLZ CREW

I started getting back into skating after a 15-year break and was shocked to find that there weren’t more options out there for fat skaters. Mostly just “fail” videos and discouraging weight limits that I knew weren’t true for me when I was a fat skater in high school. Nancy Pham Schickman on New Mom FOMO; It be like that sometimes

Nancy Pham Schickman was a skater before she became a mom, and admits to some FOMO watching her friends’ progress because for her, skating, or at least gnarly skating, has taken a backseat. “Those days of hucking myself down a set of stairs are on hold until my son is a bit older – or at least until I’m done breastfeeding.” For now, she tries to incorporate skating into as many of her baby’s activities as possible and is happy just to get to push around for half an hour for fun and selfcare.
