The Rockstar Energy Open was a massive event on the Portland waterfront from August 23rd to 25th, featuring an amazing temporary street course by California Skateparks on one side and a killer bowl on the other. It drew some of the best skaters in the world, like Men’s Park Gold Medalist Keegan Palmer and top U.S. Olympian Bryce Wettstein. Since it was the first event of its kind, Friday felt a bit uncertain, but the stands filled up fast as Portlanders flocked to the free event to catch the epic action. As a skater from Portland, it felt like a big family reunion, with everyone from Burnside to SB showing up to celebrate.
The highlight? The open best trick comps, where all kinds of skaters—pros, shop teams, guys, and gals—went for their best tricks to snag some cash. It felt just like an awesome session at your local skatepark, but on a bigger stage. Huge shoutout to Rockstar Energy and The Platfrm for bringing us all together
