From bombing hills on her board or climbing up the side of them, Cece is always outdoors doing something. Her and her wife love to explore and be adventurous. Nature is their oyster. Rain or shine… 10 degrees or 80, she’s out there getting IT.
Mental health is the ultimate foundation. During times of depression and anxiety, it’s much harder- often impossible- to build & maintain a positive, productive life. Without a solid base, chances are your house will eventually fall down. But it is possible to go in there and add some braces and support beams. Jack that puppy up and stabilize!
Time to do the Dew! Lots of opportunities to get in on the action in Des Moines, from the comfort of your own home!! Schedules are subject to change and will be updated.
The cool people from Board of Missoula’s “Girls on Shred” organization are hosting a female/non-binary skate clinic at the super rad Coal Pad DIY in Glacier Washington on June 12th from 11am-4pm. Don’t miss this!!
There’s a lot of awesome meetups happening these days, great parks to hit up and awesome skate shops backing non-trad skateboarding to spend your cash at. This map is meant to make it easier for you to find all the sweet spots & link up with like-minded skaters as you explore this summer and next. If you know of a rad shop, park or tight meetup opportunity, add it via the form at the bottom of the page!
It got wild, it got weird- it was fucking wonderful. This wasn’t just a contest, it was a renegade mission by local FDR women to take over the park for a day of music, art and skateboarding. The “Gnar Bar” was constructed on site, and the whole back flow bowl was painted with wild-ass ponies and flaming rainbows. Nine bands performed and there were over 30 artists and vendors. Women and queer/non-binary skaters from all over the country came out and shredded.
Migz filmed this almost 20 years ago and Priest recently dug it out of the dusty DVAULT, and edited it into this lively slice of herstory, starring Amy Caron, Vanessa Torres, Alex White, Monica Shaw, Jesse Van Roechoudt, Lauren Mollica, Lauren Perkins, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins and Farrah O’Brien. Musical stylings by Shoebox Jones.
Also, there are certain skaters – Dorfus, Red, Jodi McDonald – that get you saying “I can’t believe it’s not butter” when you see them lock into ripping loud, satisfying, meaty grinds, and Leon is among them. They skate with a unique and powerful energy while radiating good vibes; a session with them makes you skate better. Take Leon’s lead and leave your mark in that pool coping.
