PHILLY’S SKATE SHAWTY CREW

Shout out skate community in Philadelphia. Skating is intimidating when you’re starting and we’re out to make it enjoyable for everyone, and be there for those who may be nervous at first. The skate community in Philly is just love for the most part. We’ve gotten nothing but good vibes from people and it’s really all just thanks to everyone we surround ourselves with all the time. We love Philly!

Nancy Pham Schickman was a skater before she became a mom, and admits to some FOMO watching her friends’ progress because for her, skating, or at least gnarly skating, has taken a backseat. “Those days of hucking myself down a set of stairs are on hold until my son is a bit older – or at least until I’m done breastfeeding.” For now, she tries to incorporate skating into as many of her baby’s activities as possible and is happy just to get to push around for half an hour for fun and selfcare.

Check it out as they navigate espresso foam, parking fees, and mangle coping at the St. Kilda skatepark and shred around a couple rad COVID-era DIYs. This is juice worth the squeeze.
