Last year, around the time of my father’s unexpected passing, I received these awesome photos from Francesca’s dad, Jimmy. My father’s death threw everything into turmoil, and I struggled to maintain the momentum that BIGFOOT had before this tragic event. Looking back on 2023, it’s clear that nothing has truly returned to “normal.”
After two moves and several significant life changes, I’m finally catching up on important things that were pushed aside. While I don’t know everything about the Shuda family, I do know that Jimmy shares a unique, supportive “dad spirit” much like my own father did. Which was really something special.
Last year, Francesca won the “Queen of the Park” competition at FDR Skatepark. This event is happening again on Saturday, and along with MAMASKATE and CHERRIES WHEELS, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to be there to witness the radical maneuvers of this young skater.
Francesca is not only a Queen of FDR but also a force to be reckoned with on the streets. Check out the video below of her shredding through Philly, marking her welcome to the Kinetic Skateboarding team. With her family and the FDR community behind her, this is just the beginning for this talented young ripper.
Huge apologies to Jimmy, Francesca, and Gabriela Levy for the long delay. And a heartfelt THANK YOU to our dads, moms, sisters, brothers, and skateboarding communities that, when we fall off, are there to help each other get back on board. –Migzy
