This wasn't just a contest - it was a renegade mission by local FDR women to take over the park for a day of art, music and skateboarding.
Within 24 hours, the “Gnar Bar” was constructed on site and the whole back flow bowl was painted with wild-ass ponies and flaming rainbows. Nine bands performed and there were over 30 artists and vendors.
The local female skate scene in Philadelphia has exploded in the last 5 years. The community of ladies who were ready for a contest was already set. We were even more stoked to see women and queer/non-binary skaters from all over the country come out and shred the park.
It got wild, it got weird- it was fucking wonderful. – SHREDHER
