Founded in 2004, The Mighty Mama Skate-O-Rama is an annual charity event hosted by the Skateboard Moms & Sisters of Shred. For 20 years the mission has been the same: to empower women through skateboarding and support children in need. This year’s event will benefit Waymakers OC, a nonprofit that supports children and teens rescued from domestic abuse and human trafficking in Orange County, California.
This “stoke-centered,” noncompetitive gathering was held on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024 at Laguna Niguel skatepark. Female skaters young and old gathered to partake in the sunny day of shredding and positive vibes. Skateboarding legend Patty McGee was there with her daughter Hailey Villa, who is taking over some leadership responsibilities of the annual event. Another legend, Lisa Whitaker, owner of Meow Skateboards was also there, helping her young son Dylan navigate the transitions. See you next year!
