Last year, while skating around her new home in Nicaragua, Jessica Starkweather @wallhitting noticed that many local kids were skating on boards and equipment that was completely dusted. During a visit back to Portland, she floated a simple idea—asking her friends and community if they had any used skate gear they could donate.

The response was overwhelming.
What started as a casual ask quickly snowballed into something bigger. Friends showed up in full force at Thunderbird with literally a ton of gear. Suddenly, the challenge shifted from gathering donations to figuring out how to get everything back to Nicaragua.

Thankfully, Hudson Poston @huddygbadass and Autumn Rose @landofpop stepped in (huge thank you to both of them!) and helped make it happen. Now, the stuff has finally landed in Nicaragua—and now it’s time to get it to the kids!

There will be a free raffle at Masaya Skatepark. The only ask? If you win something, pass your old gear on to someone else.
